Florin Andone sealed the win for Chris Hughton’s side in the 64th minute.

Etebo Oghenekaro played all 90 minutes for Stoke City who forced Shrewsbury Town to a 1-1 draw.

Peter Crouch scored in the 78th-minute after Oliver Norburn had scored in the fourth minute of first-half
stoppage time from the penalty spot.

The teams will now be forced into a replay at the bet365 Stadium for a place in the next round.

The game was Etebo’s first in the competition.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United took their first step on their quest for FA Cup glory this season with a 2-0 win over Reading.

A penalty from Juan Mata in the 22nd-minute and another goal from Romelu Lukaku right on half-time, when put in by Alexis Sanchez, provided the win.

It was Solskjaer’s fifth win on the trot since taking over as caretaker matching a record set by Sir Matt Busby.

Sone Aluko came on for Tiago Ilori at the start of the second half of the defeat.

West Brom edged Wigan Athletic by 1-0 to reach the fourth round of the competition. Bakary Sako headed the only goal of the game.

Wigan goalkeeper Jamie Jones had initially produced a fantastic save to keep out Chris Brunt’s free-kick.

But Sako nodded in from the resulting corner to send former champions Wigan crashing out of the cup.

Sheffield Wednesday played out a goalless draw at home to Luton Town at Hillsborough. Luton Town will now get a chance to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup back at their Kenilworth Road home and
provide a real cupset.

West Ham battled past Birmingham at Wembley to secure a berth in the fourth round. Marko Arnautovic and Andy Carroll ended any Birmingham hopes of an upset.
